After many years spent on these hills performing this difficult activity, I can say that I don't have big certainties; the very many variables
present in the wine production still change every year and the wine market is now very complex. One of the few certainties, besides our great passion, is for sure our land. These hills are really a magnificent place to produce high quality wines and I believe they would be able to give us great wines even by planting the so called "international tendrils". What gives an additional value is the viticulturers obstinacy who keep supporting the traditional classic tendrils, with Dolcetto in the lead, followed by Barbera and, in a lower percentage by Nebbiolo. It has not been difficult for us to continue over the track already outlined by my family; even if we brought about new technologies and more modern wine cellars, the character and the identity of our wines still remain traditional. Certainly over these years we've been seeking the right balance between structure and elegance, between body and drinkability and I believe the hill on which we produce made the task a lot easier. The white lands and the great exposures give us a good body and a good longevity too while the altitude (500- 550 m sea level) ensures us intense fragrances and freshness to the palate. |
