Deciding to spend holidays in the Langa Doglianese it's a celebration of the rediscovery of times, ways, flavours and feelings of times gone by. One
must take the proper time needed to enjoy the landscapes that changes at each turn, the alternation of vineyards and woods, the hills that slope
towards the Tanaro river that separates them from the plain and the arc of the Alps as a majestic setting. Little villages that stand out against
the hills, surmounted by towers or medieval castles sometimes abandoned. In this part of Langa the missing growth of the 60's and the 80's preserved many characteristics of the past: from the personality of people, sometimes a bit distrustful and reserved to the cooking made of simple raw materials but very rich in quality and fantasy. In the villages of these hills we find again village festivals and fairs during many times of the year celebrating traditional and agricultural products: from the Cisrà (chickpea soup) to the Puciu, (loquats), from the majestic Fat Oxdal to the Sheep Tume. Any time is good to visit the hills of Langa Doglianese: in winter it's possible to find unusual landscapes often with vineyards covered by snow, sleepy villages that seems of times gone by, receipts of an antique flavours : soups, bagne caode ( vegetables ,especially raw, in an oil, garlic and anchovy sauce) and chestnuts. In other seasons, triumphs of colours, flavours and unique fragrances. These are some addresses that I hope will be useful to you during your stay at our hills. |
