Area notoriously dedicated to Dolcetto, Langa Doglianese didn't seem to be the right place for Nebbiolo. In effect our altitudes and the fact of
being closed to the mountains, characterize a fresher climate that didn't get along great with a tardive ripening tendril like Nebbiolo. These theories have changed a bit during the last years. With the climate change characterized by longer summers and very hot and dry autumns, there are new possibilities for our areas. We can not think about the diffusion of this tendril like Dolcetto did but if we look for southern expositions, sheltered from wind and cold, chalky soil and good slope we would also think about great ripening and interesting wines. Here Nebbiolo expresses a more simple and delicate character, floral notes and less hard tannins note, a Nebbiolo to be drunk without waiting too long. So the first Nebbiolo vineyard planted in 1998 gave us great satisfactions such to justify the implant of another vineyard in 2006. |
